TwO Owls Birding
North Norfolk short break
Friday 4th - Monday 7th February 2011
After a break of two years we are making a return visit to North Norfolk, visiting all the best birdwatching sites, based at a comfortable hotel on a dinner/bed and breakfast basis.
With flocks of migrant geese, including thousands of Pink-footed Geese, coming in on a winter evening it is a wonderful sight and sound, Barn Owl and Short-eared Owl are often seen at this time too. Numbers of wildfowl and waders can be spectacular, plus divers and grebes offshore. Also Marsh and Hen Harriers, Merlin, Snow Buntings, Woodcock, Twite and Shorelark are often seen and possibly Waxwing.
Our hotel is right next to the RSPB Titchwell reserve, all rooms are en-suite. We do our best to provide good birds, a good hotel, good food and a happy group!
Own transport is required but we car share whenever possible. Lunch is not included but there will be opportunities to get hot drinks and food.

Chris Packham presented ‘Never Mind The Buzzards’ at Ringwood Waldorf School on Saturday 29th May.
Chris, as many of you will know, is the popular presenter of BBC’s Springwatch & Autumnwatch, as well as The Really Wild Show, X-Creatures, Animal Zone, Nature's Calendar and Inside Out. His live show – Never Mind the Buzzards - was very interesting and entertaining. With a very mixed family audience his mix of humour and facts interested the youngest child to the more senior, telling us why a seabird like Fulmar dribble snot and Iguanas sneeze, simply to get rid of excess salt. We also heard how Falkland’s Island Caracara has developed to survive the winter by eating Elephant Seal poo.
He used his own photographs which really were brilliant and taken from some very interesting angles and even contained snot eating birds. It may not sound delightful but the facts kept coming and we were all entertained from start to finish. We went from elephants to spiders to orchids and how there is only one truly blue bird, yes even the Kingfisher is not really blue and how the feathers sheen changes with the sun light that makes the birds even more beautiful.
It was a real treat for all the family, if you ever get the opportunity to hear Chris then we thoroughly recommend that you go, don’t miss it! It’s not just informative it’s fun too.
